The Quintessence of "Horror"

Where were you introduced to the Frankenstein's Monster?

   Was he "The Frankenstein's Monster", or was he the mononymous "Frankenstein"?    

Why is Frankenstein's Monster the eponymous character of Mary Shelley's novel? 

   How has the Monster-- an archetype of modern-day "horror"-- evolved into a subject of commercialization?  

Furthermore, what role does the deflation of "horror" as amusement play in our inception of idols?
